Confidential, voluntary problem-solving, facilitated by a trained, impartial mediator
Our mediation team brings years of experience to bear on the greatest challenge of our time, conflict. We’re relationships and results driven, with a proven record of previous success.
Neighborhood Mediation Center Style of Practice
We practice a facilitative style of interest based mediation. What does that mean? That means that our mediators are experienced in and lead a process that stays as positive as possible, uncovers underlying needs and interests of everyone involved, uses every tool available to help parties negotiate, and leaves the decisions around what to do and what the final agreement(s) will be, up to the parties. You decide what the final outcome is, not the mediator(s).
The Neighborhood Mediation Center (NMC) provides up to three hours of mediation free of charge within Washoe County. The NMC also provides fee-based training and facilitation services by request. The NMC conducts community-based mediations at its office in downtown Reno and online. NMC mediators also work in partnership with Reno and Sparks Justice Courts, mediating small claims cases and other types of cases as requested by the courts.
