Organizations we frequently refer to include:

Divorce and Child Custody Mediation

Low to No Cost Services

Family Services of Washoe County

When parties file a divorce or custody case, the court will refer them to mediation through the court mediation program for custody issues only. The fees are assessed on a sliding scale up to $300 per parent, with most being set at zero. The Washoe County court website has a list of self-help forms that parties can fill out on their own, including requests for fee waivers.

Our best suggestion would be to look at the Joint Petition forms on the court website and if a couple can't agree on filling out the forms, one of them can file either a Complaint for Divorce or Petition to Establish Custody and Visitation and then request mediation at the Case Management Conference that will be scheduled. You can file a request for a fee waiver when you file the initial documents to see if the court will waive the filing fee (which is in the neighborhood of $300).
